Working with a lawyer
What an engagement gives a lawyer, and what it never gives them.
You can file yourself or hand the finished year over. Handing over does not mean losing sight of it — you and your lawyer look at the same ledger.
What an engagement grants
Access to the tax years the engagement names, and nothing else. A lawyer with an active engagement for TY2026 cannot see TY2025, your vault at large, or any other year's ledger.
Access ends when the engagement does. A delivered engagement keeps read access so the handover package stays downloadable; a closed one does not.
Verification
A lawyer appears in the public directory only after a Super Admin has checked their bar registration. The badge on a profile says which state they are in: unverified, pending, or verified.
Attribution
Every action a lawyer takes on your year is recorded against them, not you. The audit trail distinguishes who did the work from whose year it is.
